1. Could you tell us more about yourself?
I have been working for 31 years in snowmaking, mainly as a technical director leading the R&D department. The company was the same under different names (from York Neige to Technoalpin France)… With a background as an electronic engineer, a big part of my activity was in automation and process softwares. Assembly language was my favorite one… All those years I had to deal with fluid mechanics and thermodynamics in order to improve the efficiency of the snow producers. Now, as a scientific director I am in charge of research, trying with passion to better understand snow formation, including the freezing process and the behavior of sprays.
2. What is your role in PROSNOW?
To supply snowmaking data for the model, and to provide expertise on the technical snow. As an industrial partner my role is to help PROSNOW match the expectations of the ski resorts.
3. What are your expectations regarding PROSNOW?
10 years ago, I was one of the few to believe in- and push for- the snow depth measurements. PROSNOW is for me the natural next step. Integrating it into the snowmaking software will help customers to take better decisions on where and when to make snow. This should help them to save water and energy. PROSNOW is also a unique opportunity for industrial companies to cooperate and think of global efficiency.
